DataSight Version 3.8 Released
We continue to enhance DataSight with the release of Version 3.8. New features include the implementation of a Segmented Wind Rose, the ability to import data from LoRaWAN devices, enhancements to References, Graphical Flagging, Datetime Filter Conditions and Charts facilitating ease of use, as well as multiple bug fixes. This is a critical DataSight release, for this reason alone.
Wind Rose
The Wind Rose summary report is a flexible report for displaying and summarising data when the independent variable is polar or 360 degrees. Most typically, a wind rose is used to show the frequency of winds blowing from particular directions with colour coded segments and bands depicting the percentage of counts for data that falls within each segment.
A wind rose can be divided into Segment Angles of either 5, 10, 15 or 30 degrees (x), while the frequency of values within given segments that the Dependant Variable (y) is divided into colour banded Segment Boundaries, with the number of Segment Boundaries and their Bounding Values defined by the user. This summary report will be most applicable to weather station and air quality data.
LoRaWAN Devices
DataSight now has the ability to import data for devices connected to a LoRaWAN network. Automated Tasks can be configured to request data directly from a LoRaWAN data server, allowing DataSight to download the data in JSON format, convert this to a normalised CSV file, and then ingest the data into your database.
References
References have been enhanced with ‘Detailed View’ and ‘Variable Alias View’ buttons, available on the References Ribbon Menu, to help with the creation and review of References used as a Variable Alias.
Graphical Flagging Improvements
Locking or Unlocking data from within the Graphical Flagging tool has never been easier with the addition of ‘Unlock All Data’ and ‘Lock Data Between Bounds’ options, available from the Graphical Flagging Ribbon Menu, allowing you to quickly and easily manage the security of your datasets. Tighter controls have also been implemented associated with more complex Above and Below bounding conditions.
Datetime Filter Conditions
The Advanced Datetime Filters used within the Filter Panel have been reviewed and updated to standardise their behaviour in-line with data management processes.
Charts
Boundary Locking actions, for setting left and right boundaries, have been added to the right-click context menu for Charts, allowing you to quickly define a subset of data to use within Calculations, Graphical Analysis and Datasheets. The Date, Time and Value of the Left & Right Boundaries are now displayed on the Chart Ribbon Menu within the Subset Data group.
Other Improvements
Other areas which DataSight Version 3.8 has been improved include:
- When creating Import Tasks, the User Interface more closely reflects the available Level Selections based on how the Import Template was designed.
- Gauging Details’ Report will now display Comments for the selected gauging.
- A period of time for can now be specified for a Reference Group Summary Report, thus allowing for automation of this report as required.
