December 2017 News
December sees the expansion of our service offering with the addition of Contrail as a premier solution for telemetered data. At a recent Alert Users group meeting in the California, USA, the Partnership between Sentinel and OneRain was announced. Our client base now have access to the combined power of DataSight and Contrail.
Contrail provides intuitive, client configurable dashboards to present real time data from many telemetry systems including Alert and Alert 2 while DataSight provides the user with the capability to drill down, interrogate, review and analyse the data set. Data flows freely between the two platforms providing the best of both worlds to our clients.
The relationship allows both companies to develop their products around their core strengths without diluting the approach.
On another note, one of our DataSight users, Bob Steed, who is a surface water ecologist from the Idaho Department of Environmental Quality, has created the following DataSight chart. We think it’s a wonderful example of the type of multivariate chart that can be built within DataSight to visualize a data set. Bob has been kind enough to allow us to share this chart with you, together with a brief explanation of its purpose.
“Spicer Pond is a small (0.9 acres) community family fishing pond in Benewah County, Idaho that is stocked with Rainbow Trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss). Spicer Pond has suffered from fish kills and cyanobacteria blooms. Characterizing water conditions is one of the first steps in selecting appropriate solutions for improving fishing experience and the survivability of stocked fish.
The chart shows data collected from a sonde as well as laboratory analysis results for total phosphorus and alkalinity. The chart shows that the pond remains stratified in September, has less than desirable dissolved oxygen (< 70%) below 1 meter in depth and that conductivity drops in the anoxic zone. Total phosphorus remains uniform through the water column but is much higher than most lentic waters in the region (0.020 to 0.030 mg/L).”
Please contact us if you wish to discuss how to create similar multivariate plots with your DataSight data, or to extend your real-time data display from DataSight to a configurable Contrail dashboard.
