DataSight 3.1 Released
DataSight Version 3.1 has been released.
Since the original release of DataSight Version 3, our completely re-engineered product in .NET, we have been busy ironing out the wrinkles and implementing a plethora of minor improvements. We announce here the completion of the USGS reporting functionality ear marked for 3.1 release, but also bring to your attention other feature improvements made since the public release of 3.0.
USGS SHIFT ANALYSIS AND REPORTS
The most significant update in Version 3.1 for US clients is the inclusion of functionality capable of undertaking water resource Shift analysis and reporting for the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). Using DataSight’s Regressions Shift, you can use discharge to shift the measured water level data, to take into account site specific conditions such as ice or sedimentation, as required by the United USGS Standard for the Analysis and Processing of Surface-Water Data and Information. New tabular Gage Height and Discharge Report and Expanded Conversion Table reports are available for this purpose.
TASKS
Sub Tasks have been introduced to allow you to add tasks serially without manually editing the individual due dates and times. In other words, several individual tasks can be scheduled and performed sequentially at one point in time to automate your entire workflow.
During automated imports, you can now disable raw data files from being saved to documents. For some telemetered data the saving of a the raw file is unnecessary.
DataSight also now allows you to schedule the export of a pivoted datasheet.
CHARTS
The docking and integration of the Scroll Pager tool on the Chart Ribbon provides a quick shortcut to the detailed graphical refinement of large data sets. By using the Scrolling tool can you easily subset your data to send this data to Calculations or Graphical Flagging directly from the chart. You can zoom and add marks to the subset selected. DateTime is now automatically added as the default x-axis on any new chart. This variable can be changed as required.
MANUAL DATA ENTRY (MDE)
More features in editing and moving records are available in MDE. You can now change the Level or DateTime of a data record using MDE, moving all variables on the same date timestamp or just individually selected variables as required. The collection history is retained when the data point is moved. You can set flags individually for each variable within the MDE window. Also Auto search has been enabled on the MDE variables field.
FILTERING
User configurable time increment filters are now available. Using filter conditions of any of the Last day, month, year, hour, or minute you can specify the number of time increments you wish to look back over. This is particularly useful when you want to run a report or export a datasheet routinely based upon on the last “block” of data.
REPORTS
Report templates can now be easily shared across databases. Simply insert the new data source and generate the report without needing to design from scratch.
We also provide you the ability to generate the Summary report of Standards – Exceeding Data with dynamic filters (last day, last week, last month, last year).
FLAGS
We have implemented a flag qualifier called Quality to assist in refining your data flagging. Each flag can have a different quality tag. For example, data might be flagged Reviewed/Poor or Reviewed/Good.
LEVEL PROPERTIES
The Level Comments window has become modeless, so that you can add comments without closing other modules first. A DateTime column has been added to each Level comment which gives you the ability to leave chronologically sorted commentary on your Level 3 and its data. We use this feature for data management processing notes but you may find other uses.
PROCESS HISTORY
Level Processing History now provides further details for Calculations including whether a template was used or not. The datasheet Processing History now displays the process type.
PANEL DISPLAY
The contents of the Levels, Saved Views and Variables Panels are now alphabetically sorted.
IMPORT
You can now import data files by mapping directly to a level 3 ID, so that your potentially sensitive Level 3 names can be hidden from external third party service providers. Auto populate has also been enabled on the Levels fields in Step 4 of the Import Wizard.
GAUGINGS
You can now attach a document to a gauging, which will be particularly useful for storing the raw output from ADCP instrumentation.
OPTIONS
You can now save SQL views of your pivoted datasheets, and format the number of decimal places displayed for your data values globally.
PERFORMANCE IMPROVEMENTS
We have optimised the performance of several DataSight functions including:
- Loading of Documents
- Calculations
- Archival (locking and unlocking) records
- Data deletion
- Regression’s data conversion
SERVICE MANAGER
Service Manager is available as a 64-bit version
CONCURRENT LICENSING
We now sell concurrent user licenses, where you can share your DataSight user seats across the network, and are not locked to a single computer. Concurrent user licenses are sold per seat, with each seat purchased being available to a single user at any point in time.
BUGS
We have dedicated a lot of time to bug testing. A significant number of bugs have been resolved in this release, now bringing you a more robust and stable DataSight installation. We appreciate the feedback and like seeing the product used in ways we never anticipated!
